Just because Wai-Con 2007 is just around the corner doesn't mean that we're not thinking about Wai-Con 2008! After much deliberation, deliveration and deluberation, we've come up with next year's theme -
Steampunk.
That's right, in the tradition of anime such as Trigun, Howl's Moving Castle, Steamboy, Full Metal Alchemist and Escaflowne (to but name a few), steampunk is the next theme for Wai-Con 2008.
To celebrate the theme's coronation, we're also announcing the start of the
2008 Mascot Competition! As with previous years, we're getting Australian artists to create and design our mascots each year. These mascots will be adorned on our programme book, signs, posters, things of obscene awesome. You're going to be eeeeeeverywhere!
What, you need more incentive? Fine. How about a
Howl's Moving Castle set for the winner? To keep with the steampunk theme, the winner will receive a Howl's Moving Castle hardcover picture book as well as a Howl's Moving Castle DVD. Not to mention all of the notoriety that comes with being a winner.
Competition closes 27th October 2007.
